5 Ways to Perk Up Your Day

Hi everyone! Currently writing this and I’m exhausted and grumpy ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ve been having some off and on mood swings lately and some days I just feel off. I think everyone could relate to “those days” and I think it’s normal to have them! Today I’m sharing ย 5 simple ways to perk up your mood when you’re just not feeling it! Tell me your favorite ways in the comments below.ย

5 Ways to Perk Up Your Day

  • Do Something You Love:ย For me, I like to write, read, listen to relaxation videos, watch movies, or sing! Sometimes I crank up Broadway show tunes and sing them at max volume ๐Ÿ™‚ย
  • Hug it Out:ย When I’m really in a mood, I love to just hug Daniel and hold it there. I feel so much better after several seconds of holding the hug. Even if you don’t have a special someone, a hug from a niece/nephew, baby, loved one does wonders!
  • Move Yourself Outside:ย I find even taking a quick walk around the block does wonders to lift my mood. Sit outside on your patio or porch, go for a walk, or take a lunch break outside. Some sunshine and fresh air always helps me feel a little bit better!ย
  • Give Yourself Space & Grace:ย Tell yourself it’s okay to feel grumpy and allow yourself time aloneย if you need it. Sometimes the best thing we can do is to allow ourselvesย the time and space to just feel as we feel and then let it go.
  • Listen to Music Tied to Happy Memories:ย I love listening to old school music from my childhood, from past trips, etc. It brings an easy smile to my face when I hear the familiar music tied to such happy memories.

Also, there’s always cookies! ๐Ÿ˜€ย

How do you perk yourself up on a hard day?

  1. I love this list – I definitely find that all of those help, especially going outside and singing along to favorite music for me. I also thinkg doing something small for myself, like doing a face mask or buying a small treat like a kombucha…anything along the lines of “treat yo self” ๐Ÿ™‚ I also find it helpful to tell my husband that I’m really tired / not feeling great because those days definitely bring out my temper and I think it helps if I warn him lol.

    • Face masks is a good one too! Yes, I definitely told my husband when I was in a mood and also apologized because I snapped at him for no reason..haha woops!

  2. I find myself feeling the same way these days, hahah. I love getting hugs from Annabelle. Last night I was just so achy and tired (nesting is in full force and I was just exhausted) and Annabelle would not leave me. She usually goes straight for daddy all night but she just wanted to be on top of me and no matter how much I wanted to just lay down, she made me 100x happier.

  3. The thing I find works the best for turning around my bad mood is to flat out say to someone, “I’m in a really bad mood.” or “I’m really bitchy today.” I’m always amazed how just admitting it outright always makes it better, within minutes. Then I give that person/friend a hug.
Otherwise just letting myself feel it in stillness – great if it can be outside – is usually the healthiest thing for me. If I really want to get out some emotions, cry, or feel happier I will absolutely pump my go-to 90s hits from childhood and dance and belt in my kitchen. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • 90s hits are always a winner for me too!! I agree that saying outloud that you are in a bad mood definitely helps!
