August Goals/Intentions Review

I can’t believe that today is the day of August! Where did this summer go? I’m so unbelievably sad to think that the warm weather will be drifting away. Before I melt in to a puddle of sadness, I’ll let you know how my goals went this month! 

August Goals/Intentions Review:

  • End Each Day Reading: I did pretty good on this one. I definitely ended a lot of days by watching the Olympics, so perhaps this wasn’t the best month to make this my goal! Is it my fault I needed to see all of the gymnastics?! 😀
  • Avoid Screen Time 30 Minutes Before Bed: As I mentioned above, I watched all of the Olympics basically every night the whole time it was happening. However, before the Olympics and after, I’ve been successfully avoiding screens before bed!
  • Complete “30 Day Yoga Camp”: ALMOST! There were a few days where I didn’t have the time to do the video, so I’m a few days behind. I’m on schedule to finish in a few days! I’ll be writing a post on my experience with this yoga camp soon!
  • Stick to $110/week for groceries: Week 1: $60 Week 2: $90 Week 3: $127 Week 4: $114 Week 5: $106. I was really happy with these totals. Check out my post from yesterday for 5 ways to lower your grocery bill! 
  • Get Ahead on Posts: CHECK! This whole month I’ve been at least 3 posts ahead. I love that I can work hard on getting the posts together, and then spend the week promoting and doing other blog work. It’s a great relief to know that I don’t have to scramble to get things together!

Overall I’m proud with the things that I accomplished this month. I feel like I put a great dent in these goals and am glad I set them for myself! Next week I’ll be sharing my September Goals/Intentions with you. Hope you all did a great job reaching some of your own goals this month.

  1. Amazing month! I’ve also been trying to read before bed and it’s making such a big difference. Definitely going to keep that up! What books are you reading?

    • Thanks, Gretchen! I just finished Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan it was great! I’m now reading a 4 book series by Susan Mallory–nice light love stories!

  2. I actually just wrote a post about goals yesterday! Great minds think alike! 🙂 I could definitely add the goal about “avoid screen time 30 minutes before bed.” I also need to get ahead on posts too, because soon the school work will pile up and I’ll be stressed. Great reminders, Heather!

  3. I struggle with the “reading” and “avoid screens” part because I do love reading before bed, but all my books/magazine are on a Kindle haha. Doe that count as screen time? No one has ever formally addressed this, but I’m gonna say that as long as the ‘night’ settings are on it’s ok.
    One of my goals was to keep up with my step count each day and I’ve definitely done better with that lately!

    • Very interesting point! I think the main reason to avoid screens at night is because that type of light tells your brain its daytime and time to stay awake. I’m guessing the kindle night settings would be the correct type of light for going to bed? I’ll have to look in to that–interesting!

  4. Now I’m totally wondering how much we spend per week on groceries. It’s amazing how other bloggers keep me mindful of budgeting and such. Hmm… I didn’t have concrete goals for August, but now I want to do one for September. 🙂

    • Thanks, Sarah! Yes, it has been a life saver–I actually feel like I can relax at night after work rather than catching up on blog stuff until I cant keep my eyes open!

  6. Congrats, Heather!! It is the absolute best feeling to be able to check off those goals that you make and really feel like you accomplished them. And it sounds like you really did! Olympics doesn’t really count anyways… its our patriotic duties to watch.. 🙂
