Foodie Friday: Spicy Fish Tacos

Happy Friday! I hope that you have some lovely weekend plans ahead. Today I’m meeting two friends for dinner after work with Daniel so that should be fun! Other than some errands over the weekend, I hope to do some food prepping and lots of relaxing at home! I love a good low-key weekend! Today’s Spicy Fish tacos recipe is just that…spicy! You can absolutely tone it down if you need to, but I love a good spicy dish! This gluten free dish comes together in 25 minutes and would be perfect for Taco Tuesday! I had the spices on hand and used frozen tilapia that i thawed in the fridge while I was at work. No marinade required! 

Spicy Fish Tacos (Makes 5 tacos)


Ing Spicy Fish tacos

  • 2 Tilapia fillets
  • 1/2 pint chopped tomatoes
  • 2 cups shredded romaine lettuce
  • 1/2 yellow onion diced

Spicy Fish Tacos Seasoning

  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon simply salsa mix 
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt & Pepper to taste


  • Preheat the oven to 375 Degrees
  • Chop tomatoes and onion, shred lettuce and set aside
  • Add all seasoning and olive oil to mixing bowl with tilapia fish. Coat evenly using your hands.

Spicy fish Tacos rubbed

  • Bake for 20 minutes or until fish flakes easily with a fork. Shred tilapia with two forks. 

To Make the sauce:


Southwest Yogurt Sauce

  • 1/4 cup greek yogurt
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 clove of garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons of salsa
  • 1 “Wholly Guacamole” pack or 1/2 mashed avocado


  • Mix all ingredients in a small bowl until smooth. Top with cracked pepper. 

Southwest Yogurt Sauce Mixed

  • Serve with romaine lettuce, tomatoes, onion, corn tortillas, and shredded tilapia

  1. As I said on your instagram post, Im new to the fish world, but I have been crushing on tilapia lately! I made fish taco bowls the other day filled with cabbage and a yummy cilantro sauce and loved it!

  2. That sauce!! I have still never had fish tacos. Womp womp. I keep waiting out to make sure the ones I have are perfection. These look about right.

  3. I love fish tacos! These sound great! That yogurt sauce sounds even better. You could put it on a lot of foods! I love spicy food, especially mexican food. I will add hot sauce if it’s not hot enough. I think it gives it more flavor.
