I hope everyone had a lovely weekend. Isn’t it amazing how quickly the weekend goes?! If only work days could fly by that fast!
I will be doing a full post on my digestive issues over the years and explaining what I’ve been going through in Wednesday’s blog post. Long story short, I am currently eating gluten free, so my friend (who also follows a gluten free diet) suggested a restaurant near her in New Jersey called Pasta Pomodoro. You can order anything off of the menu and they will prepare it totally gluten free for you. They also offer non-gluten traditional Italian fare, so my other friend was able to order the normal selections too!
First of all, the menu is quite varied and everything sounded delicious! It was hard to narrow it down but I think anyone would be able to find something they like.
We started with some gluten-free garlic bread which came with a side of marinara for dipping. It was really yummy and had a lot of flavor. It tasted a lot like a delicious tomato pie.
Next, we had house salads. I enjoyed dipping the bread in to the dressing which was really good. It was just a standard side salad but everything tasted fresh.
For my entree I got the “Pollo Capri” which was grilled chicken, diced tomatoes, capers, and spinach in a garlic white wine sauce served on a bed of gluten free Penne pasta. We went for lunch and the portions were not the usual HUGE Italian portions which I really was happy about. The pasta tasted delicious and I wouldn’t have known it was gluten free if someone just served it to me.
Lastly, we split dessert which was a caramel brownie. I’ve had a small handful of vegan and gluten free desserts, and a lot of times the texture is very different. This was a very similar texture to regular brownies and it was really delicious!!! There were walnuts in every bite which I love with chocolate brownie. I made sure to avoid the whipped cream so my stomach wouldn’t weep from dairy.
We did a little shopping after our lunch and spent time catching up on each other’s lives. It’s always so nice to get together with friends and enjoy each other’s company. Especially when you haven’t seen them in a while! We’re planning on having another outing next month, so hopefully we’ll get some more delicious eats! 🙂
Sunday marked 9 years together as a couple for me and Daniel. We originally met in 7th grade history class and became very good friends. We started dating Jr year of high school and dated all through college and got married 3 weeks after my college graduation!
On Saturday, Daniel bought me two desserts from a local vegan, gluten free bakery near us and wrote “Happy 9” on the box. So cute! 🙂
We have both grown and changed so much since we first started dating, and I love that we’ve been there for each other in all different stages of life. I knew very quickly that he was the guy for me and I still have no doubt in my mind that I made the right choice! 🙂
This photo was taken the year we first started dating 9 years ago 🙂
Hope you have a great start to your week. See ya Wednesday!
