Monthly Must-Haves: September 2016

Happy October! Before we gear up for a wonderfully fall October, I’m talking about my must-haves from September! I’d love to hear about your favorites from September in the comments below. As usual I’ll be sharing favorites from four categories: Food/Drink, Entertainment, fashion/beauty, and home goods.

  • Pumpkin Baked Oatmeal: As I’m sure you will know by now, I love my chocolate chip baked oatmeal and I do eat it year round. Now that the weather’s turning cooler, I’ve been enjoying the pumpkin baked oatmeal with peanut butter!
  • Late July Tortilla chips: I am loving this brand of tortilla chips. They’re all organic with simple ingredient lists. They’re all gluten free and the majority of them are also dairy free. Current favorite is sub-lime!

  • Apple Cider: I love drinking hot or cold apple cider this time of year. There’s something so cozy about cinnamon and apples 🙂 Do you like drinking spiced apple cider or plain?

  • Colonia: Emma Watson stars in this movie which is reason enough to go watch it! It’s based on the true story of the cult-like “Colonia Dignidad” in Chile in the 1970’s. It’s currently on Netflix now!

  • King of Queens: A few years ago Daniel bought me the box set of all seasons of this show. It’s definitely my favorite sitcom out there and I’ve been enjoying re-watching the episodes.
  • Susan Mallory Series: I read a 4 book Susan Mallory series about 4 siblings. Each book focuses on a new sibling. They’re all lighthearted love stories and it was the perfect way to unwind after work.

  • Pumpkin Soap: I have enjoyed bringing out the pumpkin soap I bought last year from Bath and Body Works. I love smelling the fall festive pumpkin…now I need to find a fall bathroom spray scent! Anyone see that?
  • Foam Roller: I bought this small foam roller a couple of weeks ago from Target. It’s perfect for taking it with me when traveling and great for small spaces. It was around 20 bucks and it should last me quite a while. I’ve really felt a difference in my neck/back!

Home Goods:

  • Fall decor: I’ve enjoyed getting my fall decor out a few weeks ago. There’s something so cozy about fall decorations. Everything seems so homey with fall decor…am I right?

September favorites? Do you decorate for fall?

  1. Looks like a fun September! I’ll definitely have to check out King of Queens. It’s one of those shows that’s always on, but I never know when, so I’ve never fully gotten into it. I’ll have to give it a try! (Big Bang Theory was the same way until we finally started to DVR it.)

Pumpkin oatmeal sounds almost too good. I’ll definitely give that a try!

My September must have is actually a show that just started. “Designated Survivor” is SO good that I’m already hooked. It’s a show that’s more in the vein of “24,” but I can’t recommend it highly enough!

    Happy October!
    XO, Jessica

  2. Those tortilla chips look so good! I was in the store today looking for any that weren’t Tostitos brand, but my store doesn’t really have anything unfortunately.

I really want a foam roller! Every time I go to buy one I end up not getting it for whatever reason, but I’ve been having lots of neck and back pain lately, hindering my workouts, so I’m thinking it might be time to finally get one?!

My must haves right now are smoothies! I can’t seem to get enough of making smoothies every day.

    • I’ve seen lots of different tortilla chip brands in my local organic market and whole foods. Sad that your store doesnt carry them! Yes, you should try out the foam roller. It was 20 bucks and it has helped my back pain immensely!
Smoothies are always a winner…although I’m leaning more toward savory and/or hot recipes now that its getting chillier!

  3. I love apple cider! A girl I work with makes the best and she always hosts a Christmas party and I look forward to it for the cider! I also love King of Queens! I bought my husband the whole series several years ago. LOL Kevin James is hilarious!

    • That sounds delicious! Does she make hot cider? I love that when its cold out! That’s so funny thats exactly what my husband did for me! It really is such a funny show I’m loving re-watching it!

  4. Ooooo apple cider! I love it – though I rarely splurge and buy it for myself. My farmers market is stocked with it right now – the good all natural one ingredient stuff – so maybe this year I’ll actually treat myself. There is a restaurant right beside my theatre that has heated outdoor seating and serves hot apple cider (boozed up if you like) and hot mulled wine in the fall. It’s probably the best thing to do… ever.
That Emma Watson looks interesting – it was good?? I need to do even more movie/tv watching cuddled up on the couch.

    • Woah that sounds awesome!! I wanna go! You should definitely splurge on some for you that real stuff is soooo delicious!
Yes, I ended up really liking the movie! It’s a bit of a thriller and it’s so crazy that it actually happened to people!

  5. Ha! Originally I read pumpkin soup instead of the pumpkin soap under fashion/beauty and I was like, I’m sure it’s beautiful. Oops. 😛
I agree that anything would be worth watching just for having Emma Watson in it. She’s such an awesome activist, too. 🙂

    • hahaha thats so funny! I know, I love Emma Watson. I just feel like she’s of course a talented actress but she’s just so down to earth and classy!
