Weekend Brunch

Happy Monday, friends! I’m not happy it’s Monday, but I am looking forward to a shorter workweek thanks to Thanksgiving! I hope that you had a great weekend. It sure got chilly on Sunday here in PA–although my area did not see snow many of the surrounding areas did. No thank you, snow. Not yet. I’m not dreaming of a white Thanksgiving, okay?!

Sunday Brunch

Sunday morning I met up with two good friends for brunch. We met up at White Dog Cafe for their special weekend brunch menu. The restaurant itself is very charming and rustic but still has a very upscale fancy feel to it. I didn’t get any pictures of the decor because it was quite dark inside, but they have some nice snapshots on their website.

They focus on a farm to table menu which changes seasonally and is local and sustainable. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly and they have an entire gluten free/allergen friendly menu.

They brought out some fresh bread which was still warm! It’s rare that I get to enjoy bread at a restaurant since going gluten free, so I was quite excited!

To drink I got water and hot chocolate (I can’t stop drinking it!). Look how fancy it looks in the glass cup! I love how hot drinks look in glass cups, is that weird? This was super chocolatey and just what I was in the mood for!

For my main dish, I ordered the Avocado BLT (minus the bacon). It was Fried egg, avocado, Bibb lettuce, tomato, and Chipotle mayo on a gluten free bun. SO GOOD! It also came with some truffle fries which were amazing.

My friends and I had fun catching up and I was thrilled to know that this place has so many great options for me to enjoy. I’ll definitely be coming back again soon!

  1. You’re killing me with your hot chocolates. I need to order one in a restaurant – with breakfast – stat. I went out for brunch yesterday, too. They had the most incredible eggs benedict varieties, which the two people I went with got, but I went with a smoked salmon/avocado/egg platter which was deliccciousss. I usually just end up getting something basic like runny eggs and toast because plain and simple is my favorite.

  2. I have been drinking ALLLL the hot cocoa lately! Ever since I posted my own hot cocoa recipe I have been drinking it wherever I go. I guess I just have a craving for liquid chocolate? 😉

  3. You’re the second person today I’ve seen with hot chocolate. I’ve got to get in on that. It looks fabulous. I’ve never had truffle fries but I love fries so I need to give them a try.

    • It’s a sign for you to get some hot chocolate 😀 Truffle fries are delicious! Have you had truffle oil before? It’s very intense but I really love the flavor of it.

  4. That restaurant looks awesome. I’ll have to drag my parents to go visit it sometime soon on a day trip. I don’t think it’ll take that much coercing though. I can’t stop drinking hot cocoa either. I’ve been making it at home with almond milk. Yum. Have you ever tried a buttered English muffin dipped in hot cocoa? It sounds gross, but just try it sometime. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. Ooo and you’re right. Snow is not okay for Thanksgiving. Chilliness, yes. Windy/blustery, yes. But snow needs to stay home.

    • They have so many great options it would definitely be worth a day trip! I’ve been loving coconut milk with hot cocoa because its so creamy! I havent tried the butter thing–interesting! I’ll have to try it with a GF version bread!

  5. I love hot chocolate and that one looks delicious! (And fancy!) your sandwich looks really good too! It’s always fun to catch up with friends. I’m glad you didn’t get any snow yet. I’m with you and would rather have a white Christmas.

    • I’d rather have a 75 degree and sunny Christmas…but since I live in PA I dont think that will be happening anytime soon. haha! White Christmas can sure be beautiful though!

  6. Heather, you might get that clear glass see-through thing from me; We always liked to go to Seafood Shanty on “Date Nights” before they all shut down. They served the coffee in glass mugs and I always tried not to totally stir the cream too much so I could watch it swirl around from the side!Weird?! (I forgot about that-thanks for reminding me . We had a lot of good meals there)
