WIAW at the beach!

WIAW at the beach!

Hello, friends! Last weekend, I spent a day with my cousins, sisters, and niece at the beach. We’ve done this five years in a row now and it’s become a fun tradition. Today I’m sharing what I ate throughout the day as well as some pictures from our fun day!ย

Finished out the last of the week’s pumpkin chocolate chip baked oatmeal and of course topped it with peanut butter. I also had coffee with a new to me creamer in it which I’ve been liking.

This creamer is made with almond cream and coconut cream and is caramel pecan flavored. It’s really thick but dissolves right away in the coffee and its really tasty! Plus, only 2g of sugar per serving which is great for a flavored creamer!

We arrived at the beach around 11-11:30 and set up camp. After playing in the sand for a bit and taking the babies down to feel the water, I decided to eat my lunch. I had a wrap with a gluten free spinach tortilla, balsamicย roasted veggies, and spicy avocado hummus.

I also ate an apple on the side; two of the slices were shared with little toddler hands ๐Ÿ˜€ย

After a lot of running in the waves and chasing after the toddlers, I was ready for another snack. I had this protein bar which I found at Target. It’s vegan, gluten free, and doesn’t haveย a weird after taste that many protein bars have. I thought the texture was similar to a cookie bar and the flavor was great!ย

For dinner, we headed off to the boardwalk to get something to eat. I settled on these puppies. Two hard corn shell tacos with sauteed veggies, lettuce, salsa, and a side of re-fried beans which I added to the taco. They wouldn’t let me order the beans on the taco…I could only have a side of beans? It was weird.

I was happy to find a dessert option that I could eat on the boardwalk! I enjoyed banana whip with peanut butter. Banana whip is simply whipped up frozen bananas…nothing else! It tasted just like soft serve ice cream and was really delicious with the peanut butter! (I really should call this post Peanut Butter Appreciation Day).ย

It was such a lovely day to run around and to relax and enjoy time spent with family. I hope we are able to continue this little tradition of ours even as our family grows. The more cute babies the merrier! ๐Ÿ˜€ย

Favorite boardwalk food? Have you tried banana whip/”nice” cream? Favorite summer tradition?

  1. Yum! I’ve never had banana whip, not sure where I could find it, but I’m sure I’d love it! Especially with peanut butter. My favorite summer tradition is going up north every summer to the lake for the weekend!

    • It was a really delicious combo–banana ice cream is definitely becoming a more popular thing so im sure it will begin to pop up around! A weekend at the lake sounds amazing!

  2. OOH wow, that banana whip? YUM! I would smother it with peanut butter too; it looks like you had a wonderful beach day. I’m glad you can still do beach days; yay for the remaining days of summer! ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. I haven’t had baked oatmeal in such a long time…now I want some ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s so cool you found “nice cream”! I’ve never seen it for sale, but I love making it for dessert.

My favorite summer tradition is taking a day trip with my parents and just walking around and window shopping ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s a nice break from the usual routine.

  4. Oh I want to try that creamer!! I always drink my coffee black but that looks soo good! And that banana whip… wow!! That sounds so good after a day at the beach!

    • I found the creamer at Target! I dont usually get sweetened creamers but this is one is very low in sugar! The flavor is so yummy! Yes, the banana whip was so refreshing!

  5. I love Boardwalk fries! I’ve never tried nice cream, but I would love to! My favorite summer tradition would be going to the lake. I’m more of a lake than a beach person.

  6. How cool you found a placed that sold nice cream! So good!
Tacos are so good, but weird they won’t give you beans on them. Maybe they didn’t want to confuse the cook!

    • I know, isnt that cool? I was going to get Italian ice but then saw the nice cream place! They also had smoothies and such…all dairy free!
That could be…it was okay though, i just spread the beans on top!

  7. I’ve never tried banana whip nice cream at a stand, only at home. But I have had Dole Whip once at a food truck fest. That was delicious!
I would totally be down for peanut butter appreciation day.
It’s so wonderful that you got to spend a day with family. Is that your family in the photo with the yellow and blue umbrella. I love how the adults are all smiling and the kids are all crabby-faced. “Just let us play!”

    • oh man Dole Whip is fantastic too!! I’m sure there is a pb appreciation day somewhere…there seems to be a national day for everything!
Yes, those are my sisters and cousins. Yeah, we forced them in to a group photo before they ran out to the water! hahaha

  8. You DID get a good bunch of beach time in this summer!! I love this day. I think boardwalks would make anything taste better. I’m living it vicariously through you.
That creamer sounds incredible. Wish I could find it around here. And avocado hummus!? Did you make it yourself!?

    • I agree with you–boardwalks make it taste better! I found the creamer at Target–are there Targets in Canada? The avocado hummus is the “Hope” brand–its called Spicy Avocado Hummus! So good! I believe Whole Foods sells it!

    • Thanks, Tara! I love having fun traditions, don’t you? The Avocado hummus is the “Hope” brand its called Spicy Avocado Hummus–really delicious!

    • Thanks, Brooklyn! I know, I try to spend as much time as possible with my family since we all live within 40 minutes of one another. The wrap was delicious! I just roasted veggies in balsamic and added them to hummus!
